Does anybody have experience with The Insight Inventory, specifically how well it correlates to DISC profiles?
I'm looking for some communication training for a direct who's a bit - direct. I found one course from the American Management Association that uses the Insight Inventory and I'm curious as to how it compares to the tool I know (DISC).
Also, I'd appreciate a note if anybody can recommend a course similar to the Dale Carnegie Effective Communications and Human Relations course, but not spread out over a period of weeks. This direct lives and works overseas and he would have to travel to attend the training. I've contacted the Dale Carnegie franchise where he lives and they don't offer the course in English.
I appreciate any comments on either issue.

I've used it
Our company offers a day long course on the Insights discovery wheel. I found it very similar to the DISC profile but I like DISC better. The Insights has a wide color spectrum of approximately 6-8 colors (been a few years). Each color is a different style of behaviors like "Red" is similar to a High D. "Blue" is similar to a High C. It teaches you how you come across to others and to try to be aware when interacting with other colors. The problem I had was that it didn't seem to do a good job of teaching how to identify others based on behaviors. It was taught more from the stance of "now that you know the colors of those in your team you can adjust your communication to them". It was interesting taking it as a group to see how we all relate but again, I found the DISC better because it spent more time teaching you that you can identify behaviors of others and behave anyway you want to if you think about it first.

Thank you, Ryan
I truly appreciate your thorough reply. The Insights Inventory sounds like something I can relate to easily enough that it won't be hard to continue coaching him after the training is over.

I've attended the
I've attended the Insights Discovery sessions, and it does focus more on behavior of the colors, which is good if you know the colors.
It does provide some good guidance about how you come across to others, which is possibly what your report needs to learn awareness of.
