Hi everybody,
my attention was drawn to this op-ed piece that just appeared in the New York Times: www.nytimes.com/2012/03/14/opinion/why-i-am-leaving-goldman-sachs.html
I'd be interested to hear your opinions.
One the one hand, I find it noble to care about corporate culture, especially with young professionals in mind. Also, doing what's best for your clients totally resonates with me. But -- Come on: Throwing a nuclear PR bomb on your former employer? Fingerpointing at the leaders? At times where it's extremely popular to go "bank-bashing"? His argument seems all too self-centric and complacent. He's no newbie, but an executive director: Couldn't he have worked harder on changing the course of the company from where he was -- from the inside, using power and influence?
My tendence: this is WRONG. Motivated by the right values, but exposing ill behavior.
What do you think?
Regards
Jochen

Bad move
This was a bad move. If I could borrow a phrase from Mark "Galactically Stupid". Good luck getting a lot of job offers when you just bashed your previous employer in a very public way. Maybe someone will think hiring him will be a good customer relationship move, who knows. I would be concerned not only that he might do the same thing again, but will he be a problem internally? I would question his decision making also.
On the other hand...
You're looking at this purely from a manager's perspective.
Look at it from the customer's perspective.
Think about the ethics here.
